This includes methods such as the Rational Method (Q = CIA) and SCS curve numbers. Slide rule hydrology is a set of simplified engineering methods to compute runoff from rainfall. Most water resources engineering is done comparatively with a slide-rule, and could aptly be named, "Slide-Rule Hydrology". We do not fault people in the early 1900s for traveling by horse and buggy, or engineers in the 70's for using a slide rule, these were the best resources available for the time. Many skilled, hard-working engineers and hydrologists like yourself are using out of date methods to create the best designs possible.
